I was sitting at the counter of the Avalon Diner (Westheime location) trying to decide between a short stack of pancakes and a Patty Melt and it reminded me of how much I missed the now defunct Original New Orleans Po Boy diner ( thanks a lot Metro!) with those big pancakes and massive burgers. What are some of your favorite diners ( Mom and Pop spots and greasy spoons are more than welcomed) in the Houston area? I would enjoy checking them out.

I have been planning to go there but always end up at Frank's Grill up the street.

Diners are the only reason I miss New Jersey.

Midtown Grill on West Gray is a 24 hour classic breakfast with pancakes, waffles, etc but also great lunch and dinner specials. Think cheeseburgers, spaghetti with meatballs, BLT, meatloaf and lasagna. Most dishes under $10. Dirty floors. Full bar. Indoor and outdoor seating.

If you miss New Jersey you might like Katz' Deli on Westheimer. 24/7 pickles and massive reubens.
