I second the recommendation to look at schools active in Tommy Tunes. My kids are in HS theater and while I love their shows and know they do great work, some schools are top contenders at Tommy Tunes year after year.

Friendswood HS (south of Houston) always runs away with the awards, so if it’s compatible with your commute I would go with that!

Also seem to hear lots of awards from Westfield HS in Spring ISD. It’s a rough neighborhood though.

Klein HS in Klein ISD (NW of Houston) and Stratford HS in Spring Branch ISD (West of Houston) also do well.

My 3 children are/graduated from Seven Lakes HS in Katy. I know I’m biased but we have a great theater department. Equally esteemed in Katy are Tompkins HS, Taylor HS and Katy HS.

I'll second Klein HS. They are committed to the arts. The theater department always does well in competitions. They have helped along some professional actors and musicians.
