For new developments and discussions I like to check on Skyscrapercity, but that's just a forum... Not comparable with Swamplot.

At some point years ago I remember Curbed Houston being announced, and thinking that the city couldn't support two real estate blogs. But with Swamplot gone, now is Curbed's chance! I agree about the Atlanta version being very active, it's the best of the bunch IMO.

I'm so sad to hear this. Swamplot was real-estate news but it also gave me a window in to how the city is arranged, and what people think about that. It was a very smart site.

Sad to hear it's going away. I think they just couldn't get ad revenue, or a committed editor/contributor base, and it really had gone stale from it's heyday too.

If this is legitimate and permanent, then yes, that's probably along the lines of the truth.

But, if that's the truth, it still happened strangely and suddenly. Two days before, normal posts.

Here's a great moment in Swamplot history, when we found out who "Gus" really was

http://houston.culturemap.com/news/r...chief/#slide=0

Around that time I actually got a friend request on Facebook from him(?), but rejected it because I thought it was a fake.

Not the first time they've done that though. I think Swamplot really suffered after they took their first hiatus.

Yeah, I never thought it fully regained its mojo after that. The level of scoops and insightfulness was lower.

Totally agree. They lost their wit and sense of humor a chunk too.
