I was wondering if there are any really good Jamaican/Carribbean restaurants in Houston?

We have plenty up in Toronto, as well as a fairly large Carribbean community and even an annual summer carnival called "Carribana" where they have dozens of floats, costumes, steel drum and calypso bands etc. It draws people by the tens of thousands and even a lot of Americans tourists like to visit us for it.

While I love Dim Sum, I also love alot of Carribbean specialities like jerk chicken, rice and peas, roti, oxtail, fried plantain bananas etc.

Well I believe there is a palce called Reggae Hut...it was pretty spicy and I must say it was good. My apartment complex had a reggae theme night and they brought all this food from this place. Not bad.

There is a website called b4-u-eat.com On the top left side you can find a category box that lists 110 types of places to eat in and around Houston. Anything from deli to carribbean to mexican. You name it, its there. The cool thing is there are alot of reviews about the restaurants so you can see what others have to say about the place. Thats how I found my favorite (and not so favorite) sushi restaurant. Check it out!

Quite a few. Though they may not be up to Toronto standards; Houston has a large number of carribean cultures , but not nearly as big as Toronto.

That's all good to hear.

As long as there's at least one great restaurant it won't matter how big or small the Carribbean population is to me.

In the Toronto area (6 million ppl), we easily have well over 100,000; probably closer to 500,000 people from the Carribbean.
So there are plenty of restaurants here, but obviously they're not all fantastick.

Carribana's really fun!
They close off at least 2 miles of major city street. The streets already 60-80 feet wide (multiple lanes in both directions) and the crowds and vendors spill over onto the shoulders anywhere from 50-200 feet in, on both sides of the road into nearby parks.
