Houston's 2019 general Mayoral Election is scheduled for Tuesday November 5th 2019, if needed a runoff election will be held on December 14th, 2019.

General election candidates

Sylvester Turner (Nonpartisan) (Incumbent)

Dwight Boykins (Nonpartisan)

Tony Buzbee (Nonpartisan)

Bill King (Nonpartisan)

I've also seen talk of Booker T formally announcing that he's running but I can't find a website for him. He made the announcement in December of 2016 but hasn't said much about it since then.

There's been a ton of chatter around the Houston City Council meetings since Boykins announced he would challenge Mayor Turner.

It's gonna come down to Turner, Boykins and Booker T. I read Booker T's decision letter on Twitter, and I think he'll do a good job as mayor, if elected. I like to find out the platforms of each candidate before I make a decision, like where each candidate stands on important issues facing Houston.

I’ve casually known Booker T for 15 years but I haven’t spoken to him in quite a while, I can’t seem to find much info on him running outside of Twitter. It’s a shame, he’s a great guy and a brilliant businessman, most people have no idea what he’s really like outside of wrestling.

Booker T is a good dude. He was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He's won several championships as a singles and tag team competitor in wrestling. He loves his city and even though he's from the hood, he turned his life around; you gotta respect that.
