Does anyone know of a Catholic Church in the Houston area that makes an exception to the canon law and allowed two heterosexual females to be godparents and/or Christian witness for a infant baptism? Thanks in Advance. I would really like my sister and best female friend to baptize my child.

It might work if they represent themselves separately, not as a couple.

A Christian witness needs to be a baptized Christian. The godparent needs to be a Catholic at least 16 years old who has had the sacraments of baptism, reconciliation, holy communion, and confirmation. They can't be the baby's mother or father. The godparents must not be bound by canonical penalty.

I would start off by calling any of the Catholic churches in your area and ask them if there would be any issues. I doubt it. I don't think any church "punishes" babies, the Church just needs assurances by at least one parent, in good faith, that the child will be brought up Catholic. Don't overthink it. Good luck!

Are you already a member of a parish? I think you would have better chance at a parish where the pastor and office staff know you. Plus, some parishes only do baptisms for registered members.
