A good write-up in the NY Times about the Black Cowboy Museum in Rosenberg. I haven't had a chance to visit yet but pass it daily. Maybe once the weather cools off I'll make a day of visiting that, the Railroad Museum, and patronize one of the restaurants in downtown Rosenberg.

I first visited The Roundup in Simonton after Deng Xiaoping did in 1979 (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...a-and-america/)

I recall seeing a lot of young black men competing at rodeo events there in the 1980s. Also, it wasn't uncommon to see such guys riding horses along FM1093 (far west Westheimer). It seems natural that they might have picked up those interests from older family members, just like any other folks.

The museum in Rosenberg does sound interesting, I'll check it out sometime.
