Has anyone received instructions from their employer to come into the office next week after the stay at home order expires? If so what kind of measures are in place to ensure the health and safety of employees?

Most of my company's sites are still closed but for the ones that have re-opened there are restrictions:

1. only every other cubicle can be occupied
2. employees must wear masks
3. not every group can return to the office since with bullet #1 there is no longer room
4. for groups that do not have enough space, employees have to rotate who comes in on certain days

There is talk about reconfiguration of work-spaces... I can envision the addition of plexi-glass to low-wall cubicles... we'll see...

My wife is back in the office. Like SanJac said they are alternating who comes in and spreading them out. No use of meeting rooms or desk visits. Lunch is brought in but all individual orders so no sharing or communal dishes. Nightly cleaning is done and there are dedicated members of the cleaning staff to repeatedly clean the doors and elevators. They even have parking restrictions so people are spread out in the garage as well.

Are they asked or required to come in, or is it on a purely voluntary basis?

Any employee uncomfortable returning to the office is not forced to return. That is company-wide. Some people prefer to work at a company office because they have better internet access and can more easily work with large data files.

I guess in this economic situation they are also not forced to receive their paychecks.

I heard that Exxon is asking employees with individual offices to come in on Monday. Are there similar announcements from other big employers?
