My DH and I are considering moving to the Houston area for a job. We are coming from the Austin area. Just curious if anyone knows what the commute would be like, or if you can tell us where we should look? Forgot to mention we have a fourteen year old daughter and are very concerned about school districts as well as safety.
Thanks,
sc

Woodlands to Sugarland!

Commute?

Come on!

I've just run this off and the times are generous I would say, assuming no hold ups. Good luck!

Good grief. Move to Sugarland if Sugaland is where the job is. The Woodlands schools didn't even make the Metro Top 150, while Sugarland Fort Bend ISD made a few of the top tier. Sugarland is also ranked in the Top 5 places to live in the country.

Woodlands to Sugarland is easily 2 hours during rush hour. Why would you commute from one cookie cutter suburb to another? They 're interchangeable. Except Sugarland is a better commute into the Galleria.

It is not necessary to commute. It is way too far. Both areas have good schools and you will find a great home in either area.

LOL 55 min only if you're driving at 2am, try 1 1/2 hours easily. I wouldn't even want to think about how much gas money you'll be spending on the drive(101 miles RT only if you live off the exits lol) everyday.

Try mapquest.com. The commute - each way - would be sorta like driving from South Austin to the northeast San Antonio suburbs.

May as well just commute from Austin, time would be the same when you factor in the traffic coming from The Woodlands.

It's a one hour drive without traffic. My folks live up in the northern part of the woodlands and I go up there very often. I'm only a few miles from SL and the best time I've made that drive was within 45 minutes. Now that was on a Sunday morning with no traffic. I know a few folks I work with (and I work in SL) that commute every day from Conroe. You just have to get up early to beat the traffic and expect to be home late. Many people make that commute, why else would 45 be that congested.

Maybe their driving to Downtown Houston or The Medical Center just a wild guess.
