Lol. Autocorrect.

But don’t underestimate the effect of bayou livin’ on critter evolution. How many eyes do them fish have, anyway?

My favorite lunching spot during a visit to the HMFA is the Cullen Sculpture Garden, across the street from the Law Center entrance. Quiet, relaxing, meandering space, with tables and stone benches to enjoy a meal from home or the nearby food trucks, amidst thought-provoking sculptures and soft greenery.

On Friday(?) afternoons, you can access the MFA for free if you purchase a meal from the nearby food truck and show them the receipt.

The Museum Park area is gorgeous and walkable. It is lovely to walk down the streets. Love the Clayton Library and all the museums, coffee houses. Great area. If I could buy a house anywhere in Houston it would definitely be the Museum Park area.

Why? It might be an ok place to live or work but is definitely not a place to visit.

I actually agree with most of the posters. Montrose, Medical Center, Southwest Houston (Sharpstown, Chinatown, etc.), Museum District, all these are great areas. I don't like the northwest part of town much-I grew up from my mid teens on in Spring Branch-my mother still lives there and I'll inherit her house, but I never really liked the area because i's too disconnected from the rest of the city, among other reasons. I like the downtown area too. I actually lived there off and on but I don't think I'd do it again.

Favorite part of Houston = wherever is close to work! For me, getting 1-2 hours back every day by having a short commute far outweighs considerations like how many parks or restaurants an area has, since I'll only be enjoying those amenities occasionally.

For me, near work = the Energy Corridor, which offers a nice mix of amenities and good accessibility to other parts of Houston anyways. My only annoyances with the Energy Corridor are its flood susceptibility (which really only applies to a few parts of the area) and the stubborn resistance of some corners of the EC to gentrification (mainly, the stretch of Hwy 6 south of I-10 and the area around Nottingham Park).

If I worked from home and/or didn't care about commute, I'd go for Memorial Villages or West University Place (do those count? not actually in Houston).
