Hello all! I will be relocating to Texas August 1st and I have been zooming in on Katy, mainly the 77493 zip code and wanted some opinions on that particular. I have a child in elementary, one in middle, and another in high school, so, good schools are important. I am currently renting an apartment up north for what I should be paying for a house, so, I definitely don't mind paying for a good area.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Are you looking for an older more established area? If so Old Katy would be the way to go. If you're looking for newer within the 77493 zip code I would look at Cane Island and Elyson. But both those subdivision also have higher tax rates .

In that Zip I would stick with Cane Island or Green Meadows

Forgot about green Meadows. Elyson just finished building a new elementary school in their subdivision. In the new section of Elyson that's currently developing, they will be building a new junior high and high school as well. The developers of woodcreek also purchased land next to Elyson and Lakes of Katy. No timeline is to when they'll develop their land.

If you like Venezuelan food you're in luck. Not many places in USA come close. Check out the bakery in Harvest Market.

schooldigger.com is a great resource. I've heard that some of the asian-heavy schools tend to have hyper competitive students and that it can be a downer for other students because of the fierce academic environment, and how it hurts class rank

That doesn't make any sense. You recommended Cain Island, but not Green Meadows They are right next to each other and share the same schools lol, better choices than Elyson imho.

If you are considering Cane Island, Green Meadows or Elyson then you should also look at LakeHouse. Super low tax rate, gated community larger lots than any of the others named.
