Well, in addition to losing access to bars due to our high numbers, we are now one of the states whose travelers are targeted for quarantine by other states, such as NY.

Social media and 24-hour news cycles make people think and act in the moment, a bit excessively. In time, the truth will be clear to everyone who isn't living in denial for political expediency.
Youre making it more political than it needs to be.

so let's not make it political going forward and just cooperate together to curb this rise in infections. Wear your masks and social distance. Bars are difficult to social distance and they're not wearing masks, so it needs to be shut down along with clubs.

I’m all for that.

Your real concern should be about the people who actually still live in your city, who think this is a political matter and not a public health matter.

I would've preferred the protests didn't happen, but they were preferable to the full-on civil war that likely would've come if police force had been used to suppress them.

The moment when someone is asked to wear a mask....he/she straight up brings up amendments 1-100.
As long as people don't want to listen to doctors/ scientists and follow their recommendations, there is no hope.

We all have the freedom to hurl ourselves off of a cliff, but we generally choose not to partake in it. Why is this different? You're not giving up your freedom by wearing a mask. You're just making a much smarter choice for yourself, your community and the economy.

Local government should have taken the lead on this, but have been hamstrung by gubernatorial fiats.

Abbott's poor leadership skills are showing by imposing one-size-fits-all solutions tailored to rural sensibilities from Austin, instead of delegating responsibilities and resources to local officials to adjust for local/regional conditions (and the state should have only supervised by co-ordinating activities with local officials statewide). The tug-of-war power play between Blue central cities and Red rural areas should have been put aside, but partisanship has replaced the solidarity that was last seen post-9/11.

The GOP running Texas have shot themselves in the foot with reopening early to "save the economy". They doomed the economy instead and displayed their naked incompetence with a second shut-down. The GOP's poor response to the virus has only accelerated Texas turning Blue. Talk about political suicide!

And yet its still the northeast killing people. Texas is #29 which is worse than in the past. But its still better than average. New Jersey's increase in deaths per million was 230.6 in the past week. New York was 40.8. Texas was 7.3. Arizona is the one state that really has moved up in the rankings, but they are still only #21 cumulatively.

Sounds like the people in charge might have seen the light and are discussing moving the Texas GOP convention online (supposed to be in Houston July 16th - 18th)
