Level of care is great, administration is awful. I had a horrible time ever getting anyone on the phone or getting anyone to call me back, insurance billing was incorrect, noone knowing which floor anything was one, etc. For me, it was very frustrating.

I am happy to say that I have the pleasure of working in the NICU at Texas Children's Hospital. I have worked at many other hospitals in Houston, and by far, TCH is the BEST hospital I have ever worked for. There are many amenities that help cater to patients and their families. The doctors and nurses and hospital staff are genuinely happy working here, and it shows in the quality of care they provide. TCH is also designated a top-rated Magnet hospital, and many top-notched pediatric doctors and specialists work here and many patients come from across the nation and even across the world to get care here. I would highly recommend TCH for my family/friends if they were to ever need them. I would also highly recommend TCH as a great place to work. Just my input. =o)

My 7 week old grandson came down with an extremely high fever very recently. The doctor said to take him to TCH emergency room. We got there at 2:30am on a Sunday morning, they took him in immediately, and had antibiotics in his sysem within 15 minutes. He was diagnosed with viral menigintis, and admitted to Neo-natal ICU. To make a long story short, i think he got the very best care possible all the way from the emergency room to the NICU. TCH is a wonderful hospital with a great many very caring individuals. I would highly recommend it.

And by the way, he was only in TCH for 3 days, and then given a clean bill of health and sent home. They are great people.

You would be hard pressed to find a better pediatric facility anywhere. Not only is their medical care top notch, but they are very caring about the whole family.

My daughter was flown there when she was only 20 hours old. She has HLHS, a terminal heart defect. She stayed there in the hospital for nearly a month and a half. I stayed in the mcdonald house when avaliable and slept in the halls when I had to. They didn't mind. I have a new found respect for Doctors and such. In the past, with my own experience and my son's birth, the doctors seemed to only care about themselves and the clock. Not so at the Childrens Hospital. I pray for blessings on the place each day. We have been going back to the hospital twice a week for about 6 hours each time for tests and visits. I do agree with the valet parking. I tried all means of parking and this seems to be the most effective for time and 'agrivation'... I don't dread going each week as I would anyother place. I look forward to seeing her ACTUAL doctors. Dr.Salazar is her surgeon. He has already preformed the first of her three open heart surgeries. I am able to call him anytime and discuss any concerns with him. He will meet up with us anytime to look at her or whatever my concern at the time may be. This isn't his "JOB". But he does it anyway.
I am very greatful. If ever I am able this will be the Cheritable Donation of choice. As soon as I am able I would like to do reglar voluenteer work. I'd like to give to other families what they have given us...a little hope and a shoulder to lean on.
