Hi everyone! I have been looking for a bit and have visited the Houston area with an initial focus on The Woodlands. I am looking for a sfh on a decent sized lot where the houses are not super close together. 300k-400k, good schools for resale, no septic tanks, and minimal flooding history, and within 20 miles or so of Bush airport. But wait... there's more . Would love to have tree lined streets, trails, strong community vibe and sidewalks if at all possible.

I've looked online at surrounding towns and don't seem to be finding what I'm looking for. What are the towns to look into? Thank You!!!

Have you looked at Kingwood? Seems to check most of your boxes with the possible exception of flooding (some areas are more prone to flooding than others - consult an elevation/floodplain map).

Thank you! I did look at Kingwood and decided against it as the first thing I saw online were multiple flood videos which persuaded me to nix that particular town. Seemed more flood prone than the average.

How far do you want to be from your neighbors? What’s a decent sized lot?

About maybe a 1/4 acre or so. Just so the houses aren't within an arms length apart lol.
Thanks!!

Something like this. You don't really have close by houses behind or next to the house. 642 Park Dr, Flossmoor Il, 60422

You need to consult a flood map before deciding against an entire town. There are areas protected by levee’s, and areas that are low to no risk.

The Woodlands is a good bet, although 300-400k will be on the low end of offerings there. Same for the Heights area of Houston

The Heights proper has houses on 6,000 sq ft lots, which isn't what OP is looking for. Parts of Timbergrove and Lazybrook have big lots, but the prices for a house over 2,000 sq ft will be $600k or more. There are some large lots in the area off of Ella, up towards Acres Homes, but I don't know much about pricing or the age of the houses.

Might check out Champions area, but would need to do some research on the schools. Some great lots though!
