Within the Memorial Villages, how would you rank the elementary schools beyond what’s on websites like Niche. How are Memorial Drive, Hunters Creek and Valley Oaks elementary?

Perhaps others can answer your question, but the overall perception is that any public school within the Memorial Villages is going to be among the "elite", most desirable schools in the Houston region. Unless you're looking for something like a specific academic or extracurricular program, you might be unnecessarily trying to split hairs.

There may be more relevant differences in terms of campus facilities and physical condition, accessibility by walk or bike, etc.

Oh, and not to needlepick, but the abbreviation is "HOU" which is the airport code for our smaller airport, Hobby.

I wouldn't. In general, ranking sites are useless. The major factor in your kids doing well in school is you being involved.

If you can afford to buy a home zoned to ANY of the three schools mentioned, consider yourself blessed. Of the 3, I would guess that Valley Oaks would have less wealthy children (but still very well off) since it is on the north side of I-10 in the less expensive (but still very expensive) Hillshire Village and Spring Valley Village. Valley Oaks is probably the one good elementary school in the north side of Spring Branch ISD so it is highly sought after in that area.

Like someone said-it’s like splitting hairs. Perhaps someone fortunate enough to live in the neighborhoods zoned to these could contribute on its accessibility (walk/bike), etc.

None of them are better than wilchester or rummel crrek even though the home prices are marginally lower there .

Greatschools review also rates theme higher than the villages schools.

I have kids going to one of the three schools and my best friend has his kids going to another of the three schools. I would say they are all at the top of the spectrum in terms of what a child needs for education. Great facilities, teachers that care, an environment full of kids supported by parents that are involved and care. The curriculum is probably far less rigorous than say a private school program but for public school, I have zero complaints nor does my friend.

I would say buy what you can afford, as homes zoned to hunters creek and memorial drive will be higher on average than homes zoned to valley oaks.

Frostwood is the best public elementary school in the villages area.

Memorial drive is a great school but they allow lottery and people complain there are too many Hispanics so many people zoned to that school actually do private.

Schools like Frostwood and Briargrove are preferred because they only accept zoned applicants.

Hunters creek is only slightly better than Memorial Drive. Good luck

I would start by figuring out which junior high schools and then high schools they feed into. You definitely want to feed into Memorial MS then Memorial HS. You can use Niche to compare elementary schools that will feed into both Memorial MS and Memorial HS. My guess is Bunker Hill and Frostwood will be the two finalists.

The majority of the Memorial Villages is zoned to Spring Branch Middle (in Hedwig Village) with Memorial Middle in Houston serving a western portion.

According to Children at Risk, Memorial MS is ranked as an A+ and Spring Branch Middle is ranked as B+ https://texasschoolguide.org/content...s_Middle-1.pdf
