I agree B4L. I could just never get into that show...

This kind of stuff is probably better suited for the general Texas forum, but what do I know?

I've lived in both and spent a lot of time on the ground, as it were, in each rather than in my car, so although people think the cities are a lot alike, IMO, that's only on the surface. It's in the intangibles, some of which modster alluded to, where things differ. They differ enough in ways significant to me that I live here instead of there.

That said, you will find both have what you're looking for, perhaps in varying degrees depending on where you choose to live. You will also find more threads comparing the two if you use the nifty search function at the top of the page.

Yes, and they'll generally say Houston is an ugly, industrial town. And that the lack of zoning makes the entire city ugly (never mind the fact that there are HOAs, other city restrictions, and many scenic districts). And that Dallas even though being in a prairie, somehow has trees like Houston. Nope, nope, nope and nope!

Come on now, Lakewooder. Dallas may have trees, but it doesn't have nearly as many trees, nor the diversity in flora and vegetation afforded by Houston's subtropical climate. And Houston is green year-round. Has it really been that long since you've visited? (I'm patiently waiting for the snappy comeback. ) Also, if I recally correctly, most of your trees are in Dallas proper. I don't remember many trees north or even out towards Irving where I worked when I lived there. Being used to Houston's landscape, parts of DFW looked positively naked to me.

Hello Houstoner, I was wondering if you could elaborate on some of those intangible differences. Being that the differences between Dallas and Houston are such a Hot topic. This is a very curious subject.
