Is Houston that warm in winter? I thought it was more like 60h/40l in winter, quite chilly actually.

Winter weather is weird in Houston I have seen 80's in December and January and 10's too. This past winter, I do not think there was a day where it got below 32...maybe for a few hours. that's about it.

Yes, our winters are unpredictable and inconsistent. It's hard to plan for sometimes. One day you may be wearing shorts and T-shirt (never put away your summer wear) and literally the next day you may need a jacket. You never know, but it's fairly mild usually. There's that old joke that Houston has two seasons, February and summer.

On average, about 65 for the High and 45 for the low.

Its basically the planning guide cities map out & give to developers who come in & want to build residential or commercial districts.

Houston is the largest city in the United States without any zoning laws hence the reason you will see so many things around town that look strange or "out of place" such as skyscrapers scattered randomly, adult video stores right across the street from churches, or gas stations next to multi-million dollar homes.

Dallas does have zoning laws & is a little more organized looking than Houston.

I've had a lot of experience with both cities and infinitely prefer Dallas.

It's a very personal choice and depends on what is important to you. There are good and bad things about both cities as well as advantages/disadvantages to both.

The zoning is important to us. Quick access to all parts of the metroplex is also important to us. Being able to live somewhere very nice and safe while still being 15 minutes away from the downtown area, very quick access to the airports, less humidity/heat, less crowding, cheap parking, mulitiple points of quick lake and park access...

You really need to visit both cities, drive around (this is very important), check out where you might live in both places, and meet/talk to people.

Yes, this past winter was one of the warmest that I remember.

Ok...another point for Dallas...we don't evacuate for hurricanes.

Point for Houston...all that rain sure does make for lush greenery.

hi, I'm currently living in Puerto Rico, and I'm planning to sell my house here and move TX, what will be a better choice ? Houston or Dallas? I have 3 girls ages 11,12 and 13, I will be leaving PR with around $30K on my pocket, I work on computers, currently I'm a system admnistrator in a construction company, so what are the chances to find a similar job or a IT related job that can pay more than 40K a year. Also I dont have good credit so I will be renting the first year or so, until I get my credit repaired. Another question, if someone can compare cost of living between TX and PR it will be appreciated. PR right know has 7% tax on services and food, I read that TX has around 8%, 1% more than PR, but also in TX there is no income tax while in PR still

Thanks
