Lots of good developments around the urban core here, can’t find any proper thread to post so a good one showcasing them all is a great fit. The Post Houston, Theatre District revitalization, Rice Innovation District, TMC3, etc.

The Theatre District’s revamping is a BIG one that isn’t getting much attention. Just like Avenida/Discovery Green’s revamping in 2017, the western end where the theatre district is is going through a same street level reconstruction. This one is opening in phases with final phase projected for 2025.

All these downtown revamping projects are doing good in the long run. GreenStreet was originally seen as a failure when it first opened but after all of the projects around started going underway, it’s much better now and feeding off of their traffic. The POST Houston and revamped Theatre District will feed GS more traffic too.

That’s where Mercy used to be. Good memories there. Crazy how Mercy was so popular but they were only open a couple of years.

Two buildings that are part of A&M’s Innovation Plaza in the Texas Medical Center just announced to commence construction. The tallest (named Discovery Tower) is already underway and is close to topping out. This is a very underrated project!

This will be awesome! And it is well under-way... Jones Plaza has already been demolished...

I'll be very glad if Jones Plaza is turned into something more appealing, but it's kind of depressing about how many (expensive) tries it's taken to get it right. At least a lot of it is funded by private philanthropy, if I'm not mistaken.

When were the previous tries? I would like to see when a lot of these major developments downtown came to be to see the evolution.
