Check out The Woodland Heights. Lots of families with young kids. Lots of walkers and runners. Close to all the city amenities.

Wow! That sounds like very successful career already at such a young age.
At what age did you graduate?

Grew up in Philly and Richmond, VA. Now live in Katy.

I honestly feel like Richmond is more 'southern' than most of Houston. Keep in mind the large amount of diversity across the Houston metro area, especially the suburbs.

Perhaps you need to define what you see as 'southern culture' because you can find a "3 bedrooms, a neighborhood that's down to earth and filled with families, safe enough for a woman to go for a walk at any time of night" anywhere in the Houston suburbs.

Going off a hunch, however, Montgomery County is probably what you're looking for.

Honestly, I’d look at Fort Worth. It’s my favorite of the big Texas cities and would probably have most of what you’re looking for. It’s growing, not as congested and Dallas or Houston, less humid, and has kind of a Southern / Texas / Country blend to its culture.

We spent 3 years up there before my company moved us back to Houston. Ultimately we decided we’d had enough of the weather here and are in the process of moving to Chattanooga. We’d probably have stayed in Texas had we never left Fort Worth.
