You’re very close to Hillcroft which is the Indian hub. If you’re looking for unique, it’s crawfish season. Some Vietnamese Cajun fusion would be solid. I also recommend trying some of the local styles of BBQ perhaps something like Turkey Leg Hut

I have friends in Houston and visit all the time. Coming from NYC to me , Houston thrives in Vietnamese, Cajun ,Indian, Northern Mexican, BBQ and fusion of all these. Unfortunately alot of these are located in non- touristy areas and Houston is HUGE. I will drive for a good meal but anywhoo in this area I recommend

If your into Indian .. there are TONS of options in the " MID West" area ... literally so many options more than I ever seen.

Aria Suya Kitchen - AMAZING Nigerian food. Get the Egusi soup & Beef Suya

Grotto Restaurant - Italian. Has a great happy hour . The food is AMAZING everything is .

The " Upper Kirby " area for me has a good concentration of above average food options.

Agree on all these except Cajun. Finding good Cajun food in Houston is quite the scavenger hunt.

And I agree on the “mid west” area. It’s the least talked about gem for Houston food
