How many people on this forum are slugs? The proper term is slugging. Just curious to see how many people are going this route rather then driving to work.

Huh? That's a new term to me. But I'm probably the biggest non-slug here, driving 90 miles to work each way, Monday-Friday.

When I think of slug, I think of those slimy snail things my dog seems to think are yummy.

In a few cities, formerly lone motorists can zip over into those HOV lanes thanks to a rare breed of commuter called a "slug." There are rules, like no smoking or eating by driver or slug. Slugs may not adjust windows or talk on cell phones. And there's no messing with the radio. It's a system that allows total strangers to tolerate each other for long periods of time in a very small enclosed environment.

I know of a couple of folks that have tried it but certainly don't recommend it. I definitely would be reluctant to give one a ride. But then, I don't have to get to work any more so won't have a problem with them.

LOL I just remembered a real story about a co-worker. he picked up a what he thought was one of those quiet HOV riders. they finally reached downtown and finally started to chat somewhat. turns out that the man was a spanish-only daylaborer hanging around a block away from home depot because of security guards. well, he did have to drive him back asap. he had to pay him too
