Crime, flooding, dysfunctional school districts, corrupt politicians...I'm surprised we ranked as highly as we did.

Having said that, it's hard to read too much into these lists, given how much churn there is year-to-year and how subjective factors like "quality of life" are.

Huntsville, AL is evidently #1. Thanks, but I'll stay in Houston.

Exactly, how much change can really happen from year to year - that automatically makes such lists suspicious.

Plus, any list ranking Killeen and Beaumont ahead of El Paso has a credibility issue.

I'm really tired of "news" media using these algorithm-generated lists to create new articles. Such laziness. The list creators are just using these media for easy publicity for their organizations.

Good,
The years after some genius said that Houston was the most affordable city (around 2012) were not fun

BTW, urban planning in Houston is non existant
Each developer decides how the roads get built in their area
And I’m sure local politicians also get a nice commission from that

I hope to find out someday why Parramatta Ln has a highway overpass
Biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen

Hey Huntsville is actually quite nice. Still, I'll take Houston every day of the week, at least in this stage of my life.

There's some sweet acreage in northeastern Alabama though!

If we make Houston less appealing...they will stop coming.

This is, apparently, our goal. LOL

If Harvey didn’t do that, nothing will

Harvey did bring 2 year net negative domestic migration but I guess the news cycle shifted since. But on top of that, I think you could argue that keeping Houston less desirable will only cause it to keep growing since this helps lower the COL which has the biggest impact on how much people can move to a place or not.
