Hi -
I might attend an event at the Royal Sonesta hotel but not be an overnight guest...is there a nearby place to park that would not charge $30 a day as the hotel does?? I know it's the Galleria area but one can dream...
Or a nearby street? I just don't want to get towed. TIA!

What time of the day is the event? You can park at the Galleria as long as it’s within hours. Just get there early to be sure to find a lot in time.

If you're parking overnight or for more than 1-2 hours, I'd park on one of the public streets in the area. It's free and legal as long as it's not a no-parking zone or on private property.

Perhaps on Guilford Ct or McCue Rd.

Per the hotel's website, parking is $10 for up to 3 hours. $18 for more than 3 hours. They only charge $30 if you stay overnight.

The nearest street parking I can find (Guilford Court, west of Post Oak Boulevard) would be about a 0.4 mile walk, each way. Parking at the Galleria would be at least 1/2 mile, most of it along the West Loop frontage road... not a particularly pleasant walk.

Maybe park in the shopping center parking lot by Maggiano's? That would still be about a 0.3 mile walk.

Uptown has endeavored over the years to add more cut-through streets to create more of a grid. This is a spot where they haven't been able to accomplish that, so even though the Royal Sonesta is right there behind the Post Oak Shopping Center, you almost can't get there from here, especially on foot.

Maybe when they re-do this shopping center they will work with the hotels behind them to open that up. I would think it would be big plus for the hotels.

I'd just pay the $18. Not worth the risk for having a smashed window or catalytic convertor stolen.
