You guys wishing for rain should've been here last year. It was wetter than usual, and that's saying something.

Be careful what you wish for. Hurricane season starts in a few days, June 1st. We'll start getting plenty of rain then.

Last year about this time we were 19-20 inches above normal which was really unusual without a "tropical event". One "Allison" and we'll be back to normal for the year. Which is why the "normals" and the "averages" don't really give an accurate picture of what you can expect. A few weeks or even a month without rain isn't unheard of and wouldn't classify as a drought around here.

I heard that it was a little "wet" here last year. Personally, I don't worry about hurricanes. Been through a few and ran away from some more (I grew up in Florida). With Hurricanes you have 2 choices, hunker down or get the heck out. As for thunderstorms....just make sure that your surge protectors are working and that there is fuel in the generator!

No, we are not in a drought. It should snow next January. Please watch for the next weather alert.

Rainfall here is not very consistent. I have seen early summers where it rained most every day and then we would see six weeks of drought and by August the grass was all brown. I've seen dry early summers and then we get soaked late summer.

You have to remember that we tend to have several large rainfall events during the year. Much of our annual average comes from these events. We could be talking about drought today and floods tomorrow.
