I've lived here just short of two years and I loved the Houston rodeo parade -- we brought my young son and loved it -- I was very sad that I missed it this year because of another actiivty but I'm looking forward to it next year. I also liked the HEB Houston Children's Festival -- went for the last two years and it was fun too.

I'm not sure if this is a secret to anyone but I just discovered The Houstonian last week and it is my new favorite place. I wish I could live there for a month or so.

The places (restaurants, shops, parks, events, etc)
The bacon cheeseburgers at Stanton's Grocery, Edwards St. @ Houston Ave.
The BBQ at Pierson & Co. BBQ, 5110 T.C. Jester, just north of Tidwell.
The tacos at Laredo Taqueria on Washington Ave @ Snover St.

(Yeh, I'm a bit overweight).

Yeah, I agree with Jfre. I'm not telling about all the great places, because they will turn not so great anymore.

As it is, the northerns and califonieians are really starting to mess with the whole Houston-vibe. If we can keep a few places "our little secret" just awhile longer, I'm all for it. Besides, they wouldn't be cool or flashy enough for them anyway.

sorry! I am trying not to!

I found a great place for NY style pizza - Brothers Pizza in Katy at HWY 6 & I10. OMG it is to DIE for. The owners are straight from Brooklyn and are so friendly. Pizza is just like back home in NY.
