I just saw it this weekend. Quite ugly. To quote The DaVinci Code, "a scar upon the face of Houston"

Please -- it isn't a scar on Houston - Houston is filled with odd things and large signs. Why is this worse to many people than the sight of the McDonalds Golden arches on some signs that are equally high and need lights on them for low aircraft visibility??? Oh wait, Houston is the fattest city so guess we need those arches up high so we can get the big mac fix any time, any place without having to expend any energy or calories looking for a McD's.

Because a huge, expensive McDonalds doesn't scream hypocrisy.

The huge, expensive McDonald's would also be paying for that stuff without the benefit of a tax exemption.

A cross doesn't scream hypocrisy either -- because you have just lumped generalized everyone who has those beliefs as a hypocrit and that isn't true. Yes of course there are some hypocrits in there -- we are talking about humans but as far as everyone -- no.

McDonald's screams something -- just haven't figured out what it is yet -- used to be kids but now I think it just screams high fat content here.

Some of you remind me of those idiots that wanted the bible (which had originally been there since 1956) removed from in front of the downtown courthouse a few years back.

If a bunch of Satanists pooled together enough money to build a 250 foot black upside-down cross next to it, I wonder if said Christians would support their freedom of religion, speech and expression.

Well they would first have to ask the church for permission to erect it right next to it on the church property.

Actually, I saw it on my way to work today while it was still dark - I thought it looked kind of pretty with the lights shining up on it -- sure beats all the other junk along the freeway that's for sure.
