Try David Weekly. They will build on your lot and are very reasonable. Prices are different for the same floorplan in different areas because of the price of land. The same floorplan in The Woodlands or Cinco Ranch might be much less expensive in Cypress or Spring. If you already have your lot, the price to build should not vary greatly because you have already paid for your land. It will depend on your finishes.

Consider Trendmaker also. Not a custom builder, but they are pretty flexible with design options and doing things that are not in their standard plans. You can find them in most master planned communities or you can also build on your own lot with them.

If they're too expensive, think of Perry Homes then. However I see Perry homes as lots of cheap square footage with often a lot of useless space in the 2nd story of their larger 2 story plans -- but paroxidically small bedrooms.
