Of all the places on here (like, uh, Austin) and Houston isn't even included? I know we've got to have more visitors. What gives?

Just saw a blurb on CNN this a.m. about how Austin ranked well for food?

Sorry, but one of the biggest differences I noticed between living in Austin and Houston was how much better the food is in Houston. In every category. It's ridiculous.

I really have to wonder about this list... and why Houston isn't even a choice? What gives?

Well, everyone I've ever known who has been to Houston loved it there. Granted, it's not many people from up here, but there are a few. Galveston was actually a popular destination for travelers from here.

I don't know if this makes you feel any better about your city, but I was just reading an article that someone posted on the "Retirement" forum. It was very good and I've read a couple of things somewhat similar. Fla and Az have been in the number 1 and number 2 spots for a retirement destination. That is changing quickly and Tx. is heading for the spotlight now. I don't doubt that the Houston area would be one of the top choices.

And before anyone complains about those old folks, check out what they bring to the economy and the little that they take from it.

I thought shopping was what Dallasites hung their hat on.

You mean that old George Carlin riff about Florida having ages, temperatures and IQs in the 80s could apply here too?

Austin may be better for eclectic shopping whereas Dallas is more upscale and less eclectic. I've found some funky stuff in Austin that I haven't found anywhere else. Again not upscale shops just unusual shops.
