Hi,

Just called AllState and they said they do not cover the home insurance in Harris county. Is that even possible? There are thousands of home in harris county and they are not covering them???

Any ideas on this or the phone representative was just a stupid person.

True... they do not offer new policies. We still have them as we had them on our old house since 2000, and were "grandfathered in" we were able to keep them on our new house in 2007 since there was less than a 30 day lapse in coverage.

Of course it's possible and probably very true. Ins. companies are looking to get out of hurricane prone areas.
Perfect example...my MIL had her home Ins. with AllState for 40+ years....she is 93 yrs old and was 2 weeks late in making the payment. First time ever late! And they dropped her...Agent told us she lived in a active hurricand area of Fl and was not insuring in that particular area anymore. It was hell trying to find a company who would cover that area!

I had them quote my new house when i was building it in Katy. The agent told me that Allstate wasn't writing any new policies, but she got me a quote through an affiliated company called Stonington and Lloyds. The price was competitive and it was decent coverage.
