What are some of our favorite places to get pulled pork, in NC, the refer to it as eastern style.

Thanks for any help!

Sticky Fingers is pretty good even though it is kind of a chain. In SC of course, not in Texas.

Its very easy to make.Basically roasting a pork shoulder for six hours, shredding, and adding just the right vinegar sauce. It cant be bought in Tx. I'll pm you the ingrediants for that when I get home later tonight. It's straight from Meltons in Rocky Mount.

Pulled pork is amazingly non-existent in Houston. I know exactly what you mean having had it when visiting my uncle and others in Atlanta, Knoxville, even Arkansas next door. I think it's some kind of Texas chauvinism vs the SouthEast. Brisket, Ribs, Chicken, Hot Links, occassionally Turkey, never Pulled Pork.

I love it though and look forward to hearing from others of a good restaurant having it. Meanwhile, just make it yourself from a pork roast or shoulder bought at the grocery store and very slow cooked, preferrably from a side smoker.

I was in Arkansas all last week, and had some in Little Rock that was best I've tried outside of NC. I think that is what has me wanting some last few days!

I grew up in North Carolina (Greensboro to be exact) so I know exactly what you mean.
I have not really seen anywhere around here that serves true North Carolina BBQ and that's a shame.
I argue with my wife all the time (who is born and raised in TX) about North Carolina BBQ being hands down better than TX BBQ.
The closest thing I've had around here is chopped (rather than pulled) BBQ.

The only restaurant that I know that sells it is Dickies BBQ Pit. A little chain. Having living In High Point very near Lexington, Texas bbq just can't compete. I am from Mississippi, so you would think I woulr naturally prefer Memphis bbq, but nothing can compete with NC bbq. Now NC itself may kind of suck (way to slow, boring, and conservative), but their bbq is the best.

Or it's totally awesome! The state and the BBQ.

Yeah, and for good reason. Salty shredded pork in sauce ≠ BBQ.
