I am thinking of moving from CA to houston area,I have a kid(boy) and now I have to decide where to buy a house.I heard that the woodland and katy areas are good in terms of good school districts and quality housing,I also heard that there are some traffice issues especially in katy area and woodland,is that real true?If so how about spring trails, comparing with woodland/katy,is the area better in schools and home values.
Any info will be appreciated!!

All of those areas are nice including the school districts. Where will u be working? That should be the other deciding factor on where u live because traffic in Houston can be awful.

Default Katy and Woodlands

Traffic about the same depends on the timing. There's the High Occupancy Lanes for both areas. As far a schools, Katy has two(2) schools in the top 10.
Cinco Ranch and Taylor High Schools.

Also depends on if you like trees! The Woodlands has a great atmosphere...and it is wooded.

Personally, I like The Woodlands better than Katy but some people feel claustrophobic with all of the trees. If you like a happy medium with the choice of forest (like the Woodlands) or lakes and wide open spaces (Katy) along with great schools and great demographics, you may want to check out Cypress as well.

All the areas you have mentioned are quite a ways from each other (well, Katy from The Woodlands). Where is your job going to be? I'd look at the commute and then see what area is good. You really can't go wrong with any that you mentioned. One of the nice things about Houston is there are a lot of nice areas to live all over. I also have found you really don't need to drive far to do anything. We lived in a smaller town and I found I had to drive all over town to do anything. Here in Houston, I live in a "bubble" and never venture from a 5 mile radius (excluding work).
