Must've been at the same time it happened here. It lasted just long enough to say "well, I guess that's the end of that - well, uh, maybe not"

Galveston is completely without power, and KHOU says some houses are on fire and there's nothing they can do about it.

Deja vu. Didn't some houses or shops burn down on Galveston during Rita (or was it Katrina)?

I hope you don't lose power, I can't do without your quotes.
You seem to bring hope through humor and I wanted to thank you for that.
Well, I'm off for another martini. We should have had a big hurricane party here, we have plenty of booze for it!

If anybody has fish in their freezer they better throw it out now, otherwise your fridge will be going to the dump.

(Ask me how I know)

So I just uploaded some photos of the AWESOME sunset we had here in Katy, as well as the wind. This is my Flickr stream: Flickr: Mainline Mom's Photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pooqueen/?saved=1 - broken link)

and here's a couple particular videos of the wind and of some kids on my block skateboarding with garbage bags turned into windsails:

Wind-boarding? on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pooqueen/2852242280/ - broken link)

Hurricane Ike, 100 miles from landfall on Flickr - Photo Sharing! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pooqueen/2851399567/in/photostream/ - broken link)

We're having a little hurricane party, we've got five adults (three evacuees) two kids, five dogs and a cat! I don't think we're all gonna fit in my closet, the only windowless room in the house.

Looks like it was more windy there than it was here earlier, and I'm closer to the storm.

Pile in. There's a way.

I think Katy's going to hang just fine, so odds are it won't be necessary.

southernaturelover, I think your location says it all.

BTW, IS the Floribama still in business?

Yeah I"m pretty sure you're right. My husband is kinda hoping the windows in his 17th floor office at the Galleria will be broken just enough to keep him home from work for awhile!

I live near Ellington, but I'm in Gonzales right near, near San Antonio. I hope you guys keep power tomorrow, cause' I'll be checking this thread for updates about power outages and any flooding along I45 and I10. Hopefully it will hit and be gone quickly before it can dump too much rain.
