Hi I am a stay at home mom. So I home most of the time. We live at the West Point Apts. because they are all bills pd well at least they were until the new owner. We live here so we can afford to send our children to private school. We just renewed ou release for another yr & then we were told upon renewing next yr we will have to start paying all the bills ourselves. We already pay $980 a month & now a 2 bdrm & 2 bath here are running $1040 so we can not pay that & a $600 light bill. So we were wanting to look to see where would be a good, safe & afford for us. But we are scared when we hear about $600-$1000 light bills. Anyone have an idea about how much a 2 or 3 bdrm apt would run in elec. I call the elec companies & they will not answer my question.
Also, if you know some place that would be nice & safe please let me know. We know we have like a yr before we have to worry about moving but there are so many places here in Houston you almost have to start now. My husband works in the 77042 zip & my children attend school in the 77077 zip & our church where I volunteer is in the 77056 zip. Any suggestings.

Hi,

Really it depends on your usage. I work 12-14 hour shifts and atleast 12 days a month i'm NOT home. But then I'm off for 16 days out of the month and during that time i'm washing clothes and drying clothes and running the A/C and cooking and using the dishwasher, running 2-3 tvs and 1-2 pcs. My bill is usually about $250-$280 a month for a 2-2.

i used to live in a 3 bedroom apartment with two baths, and four people total in the stafford area. most people were gone during the day, but would return by 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

our bills in the summer would range from $200-300 a month, but would go down to $50-150 in the winter.

My 4/2/2 house peaked at $225 this year vs just under $190 last year. Depends on the build quality and efficiency. I've chosen to go somewhat ''green'' here where appropriate, modernizing what I could... but even that has a cost. If I didn't, it'd probably be close to $300/mo peak. Therefore I wouldn't expect a 3 bedroom to be anymore than this unless your habits are just wasteful... and many people's are.

For the winter, a gas furnace is going to be significantly cheaper to operate, and more powerful than electric.
