You just have to reside in Texas for at least 6 months. I'm pretty sure that's all. That's if you're a US citizen though.

Depends on who you are asking....community colleges can set their own requiements, I think, and other entities may be able to also...not sure if there is just one definition.

Residence for what purpose? Divorce? In resident tuuition at a public college? What?

For divorce, you have to be a resident of Texas for 6 months and have resided in the county for which you live for 90 days.
