Okay, new to area and we try to eat whole, organic, fresh foods (I know, hard to find after Ike). But, where can I normally find a farmer's market? Please don't mention La Centerra--it is not what I am looking for. Also, is there an Asian market or a fish market where I can find great quality fresh fish? Any suggestions?

Glad I am not the only one who thought so. $5.00 for a dozen of eggs was a little much. They did have grain-fed beef, but I can get that in the grocery store, and it hasn't been sitting out in a cooler. I really wanted some fresh produce from real farmers.

The closest Asian market to Katy is going to be the new H-Mart Korean market in the Spring Branch area of Houston.

Default Does H Market have produce too?

Moving from East Coast, our Asian markets also had GREAT fruit and veggies...along with fresh fish and amazing other things. Do you shop here? Does anyone else?

Yes they have produce. I think theyre the cleanest Asian market right now but due to the smaller space the produce isle is quite small. For produce and meat market i'd recommend the hardcore asian market Viet Hoa (sam Houston/Beechnut) and Hongkong city mall (bellaire/wilcrest), both are in Alief.

oh and dont even bother looking for east coast chinatown produce here. I used to frequent NYC chinatown to catch 'exotic' fruits on Mott Street. I bet theyre not even legally imported

I personally don't need Asian, I just want to find locally grown, farm fresh produce. Any ideas about those places?

I'm very interested in this subject, too. My sister (a vegetarian) recently located to West Houston from California and is having a hard time finding quality organic & locally grown food.

She also buys chicken breast meat to cook for her cats, but prefers organic, natural, etc.

Thanks!
Kathy

There are plenty of Farmers' Markets around Houston--just not Katy.
