Does anyone know of any active parenting forums? I belonged to an active online based mom's goup that hosted lots of playgroups and MNO's and I am in search of something similar in Houston. I have googled quite a few in Dallas, but nothing in the Houston area.

if you check out Babycenter.com and go into communities, there is a Houston Mamas group. I don't know if I'd call it super active but its semi-active. I'm also a member of Moxie Moms of Katy and we have a yahoo group that is great for recommendations and we have playdates and MNO's all the time. Also a member of a group at St. Peter's Methodist in Katy called Mother's Share and we have a yahoo group too...same kinda thing.

Thank you for the reccomendations, I will look into mamasource. I am familiar with babycenter, and it is not want I am looking for. I am ISO a local site similar to this one or mothering.com, but for local moms.

All of the other city forums that I am familiar with are well structured and highly entertaining. Great for those days when stuck at home or late night communication.

Thanks again though. I found a not to active site last year shortly before we moved to Houston, but it closed less than a month after we moved. Perhaps I will not have any luck.

Depends on wher you live as well. There is an active Hip Mommas group that is Houston wide but mainly has actvities in town.

There is also the Houston Mom's club mainly in Memorial. I can get you more info if interested.

Please pm me with information on both. I live inside the beltway some what close to the memorial area and we spend most our free time intown.

I want to make a few connections before I am overwhelmed with classes and such. My DH needs a few friends.

There are tons of Mommy groups in Houston on Meetup. Use the Internet to get off the Internet! - Meetup.com They have different Mommy groups for all types of interests and parental styles. Many of the Mommy groups have Mommy Night Outs, playdates, on-line discussions, and other activities. Just type in Houston and Mommy in the search engine. It may be better to just type in your zipcode to locate groups closer to your home. There are groups in the city as well as in the suburbs. I am a member of quite of few Mommy groups on Meetup. The only negative is that you may have to join a few in order to find the one you like the best. Also, so many new Mommy groups are created each month.

Another place to find a Mommy group is on Cafemom.

Meetup.com for sure. That's where I found my mom's group. Excellent resource!
