Lots of good places in town..lots. A great website is b4-u-eat.com. I am partial to Sage 400 near the Galleria. It can be a bit pricey, but is great quality.

There is a decent sashimi and sushi line at an Asian buffet at Beechnut@Beltway 8. It's not fancy, but good fresh fish, all you can eat, for around $10. Can't beat it. It's called Kingsway Buffet.

I LOVE the sushi/sashimi at Kona Grill in the Galleria. It is really surprisingly good.

Sort of picky on my sushi but I did find that 'Azuma' was for me, clearly better than all others.

Sage 400 is the tops
Then Uptown Sushi during the lunch hour
Nori in West Houston
And Sushi Jin, out in West Houston

I'm hoping Nori Bistro turns around fast in Town and Country before Rai moves in. Horrible service.

Pang Tai at Westheimer & Wilcrest has pretty good sushi. Between 2-6pm and after 9pm the sushi is excellent because of the happy hour prices. 2 pieces for $1 and rolls are $3 a piece. Yum!

Tomo's in Montrose has quite a nice presentation. Good sushi. I love their rolls presentation and good slices!

For late sushi, Cafe Japon is OK. It's not the best fish but not the worst. Not a bad place...quiet enough too, casual comfort at night. It's open until 2 am on the weekends.

Those are some good suggestions I see from everybody. I'll have to check them out!

Of those mentioned and have tried, Azuma was cool, the hot rock beef strips and all. Kingway Buffet, perhaps I need a second trip to reconsider, with all due respect.
