If you ran your Fridge off a generator for an extended period after Ike, you probably did not run it 24/7. I ran mine for two 8 hour shifts and left it off 8 hours. This went on for 2 weeks until I FINALLY got power restored.

After power was restored the Fridge appeared to work fine, but I noticed the Freezer was not as cold. It "sorta" froze everything in the freezer but I could not get the freezer temp below 22F and the ice generation was VERY SLOW.
(My fridge/freezer has temp gauges).

I surf a lot of home improvement sites, and I remembered some poster saying that before you call an expert, most fridge problems can be solved with a complete 24 hour defrost and restart.

I did the defrost, and fridge works fine. Freezer is now -2F and the ice machine is on steroids.

This message may be a little late for many of you but remember the tip in the future.
