I finally got off my lazy butts and tried to fix the fence. I have a questions for those who fixed your fence. Did you remove old cemented posts? Or did you just dig another hole next to the old one? Thanks.

You could go either way, depending on the spacing that you need. It's kind of a pain to dig up the old concrete, but you may have to.

If you have to replace any fence corners I would dig those posts out. Otherwise I would avoid digging out the old posts if at all possible. Digging out the posts will probably take two years off of your life and expedite the onset of serious arthritic problems.

I'm having a problem getting a reasonable estimate from folks who give an indication that they know what they are doing. Any good Houston (esp SW Houston or Ft Bend) recommendations form people who have actually used a contractor (and not the contractor themselves!)..

I am in the process of having my fence straightened now. If you can do it yourself I suggest you do. I am paying 1k for this!!!!ouch

anyway.... what he is doing
digging around and slightly under concrete. straightening the fence using posts to prop it up and hold it, and concreting around and on top of old concrete.
hope that helps a little.

yes, we used Houston Roof & Fence and they were great. They did what they said they would do and even sent us before, during, and after photos of the job on CD ROM. Very professional. There website is Home Page or Home Page

They even make a 1-3% donation from each job to the local animal shelter in your name. Awsome Company!!!!!

Thanks for the info. Do you mind telling us the actual work they performed for you? And maybe post some pictures since they provided them on a cd?

if you don't dig up the old posts, then you will have to dig new holes for the new posts. its easier imo just to dig the old ones up. you can do it with a sharpshooter shovel.
