Is there any time of year when these occur? Im talking about large street fairs where a lot of people congregate. Can anyone shed some light of when events like these occur in the Houston area?

The Houston Rodeo is a huge and planned annual event. The other carnivals and such are not really the same thing... so maybe you could be more specific. There are street festivals that are planned annually, such as the International Festival, the Greek Festival, etc. There are county fairs in the nearby areas, too, and smaller rodeos.

What ya lookin' for?

Yep. Add Harris County Fair, Pasadena Rodeo, Strawberry Festival, Crawfish Festival, Ft Bend County Fair, Art Fest, etc. to all the above

The Houston Rodeo in March is the grand daddy of them all but many smaller towns have their own smaller ones right about this time of year.

Coldspring just had theirs which lasted about a week and I loved it. While driving some place west of here I forget the name but they are having theirs next week. I just read in an RV journal that Mesquite, TX is having a real big rodeo starting tomorrow.

They are all over.

We just had the Bayou City Arts Festival downtown and it was wonderful. The International festival is a very fun annual event. And the best is the Greek rescheduled due to IKE for this weekend (I think check the Chron) it is at Annunciation Orthodox Church. People make towers using the kabob sticks and wine corks. Great Food.

Off the top of my head:

The Westheimer Block (formerly Westheimer Street Festival) in Montrose is always fun, which happens twice a year.

The Houston International Festival in the spring - downtown

Bayou City Arts Festival in the fall - downtown

Greek Festival in the fall - St. Thomas University area

Crawfis Festival in the spring - Old Town Spring

Default Brewfest?

There used to be some sort of brewfest in Market Square in downtown Houston, do they still have this? Obviously its been years since I last went, but it used to be a fun event.
