Mine unfortunately averages $350-$390 summertime (2-story, 1 a/c unit) so I was concerned about potentially receiving one 4x higher - haven't gotten one yet.

Sure got mine from Reliant!!!

$166 for a 1 bedroom apartment in The Woodlands with only running the A/C for 2 nights.

They said my average usage was 39Kw/day, when my last bills in the summer with A/C on everyday were around 19-21Kw/day.

I'm assuming they are averaging and not meter reading because I know for a fact I used less than 20Kw/day!

How do I dispute this? I tried calling Reliant and was on hold for 25 minutes and had to hangup because I had to be somewhere.

Default Ouch!

I just got my last statement from Gexa...$321.67

That's for the month of October! WTF?!
I hate having to run the A/C 12 months of the year.

People used to live around here without A/C, but they had 1,000 sq/ft houses, attic fans, big windows with screens and large original-to-the-area pre-development trees overhanging the roofs. This is the main reason why wooded land was so valuable, you needed it to shade your house from the hot sun. It could be 95 outside and with the attic fan and shade, you could easly be in the low 80's in the house with a nice breeze.

Now days, we have 2500-4000 sq/ft 2-story monsters with double-paned sealed glass, one 2ft tall sad twig of a baby tree in the yard and no airflow whatsoever into the houses. So yeah, if you leave the A/C off and it's 95 outside, it'll be 95 inside, too, and stifling!

...and after a week with the A/C off? You can get a good idea when house hunting and you visit homes that have no power. It's rather stifling at times.
