Hi there,

Wondering, what are the rents like for homes in the Katy area, for lets say a 3bedroom, 2 1/2 Bath home?

And also, where do most of the folks in Katy do for work.....are there different industries? I have heard that many more people rent than purchase homes....is this true?

thanks!

Karla

Are you looking at investment property there? You can go on HAR.com and look up rents.

Katy varies depending upon whether you are north or south of I-10. South being more affluent. It is a commuter bedroom community.

The caveat I would give investors about buying rentals in suburban areas is compare what you need to get in rent to what it would cost someone monthly in a house note. If someone can buy for close to what you are asking in rent, then why are they renting? There are some people who can't buy because of their credit, and that is probably going to be your pool of renters. So don't expect to be too picky on credit. Otherwise you may never get a renter.
