Just a follow-up to let you guys know I went with Comcast. I called, rather than signing up online, because I figured I had a better chance of working a deal. I got 29.95/month for 6 months, then the regular rate of 54/month, but the sales rep told me I can renegotiate that rate for a lower one. There was no avoiding the 50 dollar set-up fee, but oh well. I think I called on a Tuesday. Friday of the same week the installer came out and hooked up my service. It took him about 1.5 hours, because my line was cut and he had to do some repairs.

Thanks for chiming in, everyone. And CalmFire, I took your advice and dove in. You're right, I can always switch later.

Oh, as far as the service goes, so far so good.

DONT Go for Windstream. It was great at one time, but not anymore. LOOKS LIKE IT IS GOING THROUGH A REORG AND THE new TECH SUPPORT PROVIDER FOR THEM NOW HAS NO CLUE WHAT THEY Are talking about. any issues they will blame it on OUTAGE in your area or a problem with your Hardware (modem, laptop) etc.

What channel guide? TV Guide Channel was removed shortly before/after(?) the changeover. I still like my standard cable service but wouldn't go for their internet after hearing about their internet censorship from NPR and other news outlets.

If you can find anything that is close to speed you need I would avoid comcast. Here in Colorado Springs We have had nothing but problems with billing, customer service and monthly having to reset the modem. The feeling you get when you talk to them is that they really don't care about customers. The attitude is if you want to have our cable and internet pay our price or get lost. Not been a pleasant experience and double the cost for slower internet than we had in Kansas City.

COMCAST is full of S**T! There prices are outrageous and they keep getting higher. I've had Comcast (use to be Time Warner)..AND service Sucks too. My computer is down every 3 days. Can't tell you how many times I've called for Televison Problems I've had and most technition really aren't experience enough to know what's wrong. To ad to injury I pay $175.00!!! a month for only TV and Internet..So, after years and years with them..I'M DONE. I'm tired of getting angry/of not getting service,I'm tired of writting letters and posting my fustrations...I'm leaving them forever. Anyone know of where I can go that can offer me a better deal and ALOT LESS PRICE????????

We use Comcast for cable & internet. Our cable (and internet) went out a couple of weeks ago on a Wednesday afternoon. I called that day and they could not come out until Saturday morning! I called everyday complaining about it, but the service guy still did not come out until Saturday morning. To top it off, he could not repair the problem that day, but it was fixed the following day.
I was very disappointed with their service.
