we are looking at a $250K Highland home in firethorne. They have offered a $17K discount. Can anyone please provide details on Highland Homes. Are they good homes ? Bad homes ? Is $17K the most they will discount ? Has anyone negotiated more than that ? Any horror story's on workmanship quality ?

Highland is pretty good builder in the area. Although they are not a national builder, they rank very high in JDPower ratings. For more information, go to

JDPower.com | Homes

I think you can ask for 10% discount if it is new home construction.

Highland Homes is one of the best builders in the industry. There is really no particular percentage that usually is negotiated. Have your Realtor run comparables for you so you have an idea of how much they are selling for and how much they are work. At that time you can determine what they are worth to you and make the offer accordingly.

Having a Realtor represent you would not cost you anything since the fees are typically paid from the marketing fund from the builder so it will not affect your sales price.

Good luck,

Naima

Having a realtor is no cost to you.. and only a benefit. Many discounts are tied to using the builders lender.. remember that you do not need to do that. No one can tell you what lender to use. Many discounts out there in Firethorne.
