Hi guys,

I recently moved to Sugar Land from Spring. I went from a MUD (Spring) to a non-MUD (Sugar Land). My water bill in Spring ranged from $15-30/month ($30 being a heavy summer month with lawn watering). I just got my second bill from Sugar land for $67 for one month (the first bill was a partial month). Does this sound normal?

Breakdowns include charges for water (of course), solid waste (I guess this is trash pickup) and WASTE water. Waste water is by far the largest charge at $37 worth of the bill. What the heck? I'm fine with paying a fair price for water, but $67 a month seems ridiculous.

Also, what is your typical usage? In Spring mine was 2 to 4 thousand gallons. This bill I got is for 5 thousand gallons and we haven't even run the sprinklers even once. We didn't even have a working washing machine or dish washer until a week ago. Was my Spring meter a slow reading meter or is my Sugar Land meter wrong? What's your monthly usage? We are a 2-person family (me and my wife) and have barely even eaten at home latey due to unpacking and working on the house.

I'd really appreciate any Sugar Land resident feedback, specifically those not in a MUD. Any others, I'm also interested in your average usage and rates. Houston area, MUD and non-MUD. Please specify!

Thanks,

Michael

We're under the Clear Lake City Water Authority. Bills come out every 2 months and are generally $18 (usage at 9k gallons), or $24 when the sprinklers are running. Half is water, half is sewer.

Property taxs for them is at 0.28% of appraised value minus homestead exemption.

I would certainly have the meter checked or at least read it yourself for the next month or two...I only pay $20.00 (min. amt.) in Deer Park

What is your water bill like?

Well, we find it in the mailbox every month or so. It comes in this white envelope with our address in the window. Opening the envelope reveals a sheet or two of folded paper that indicates to us how much money we should send the city for our water usage. We also get a smaller envelope in which to send them a check.

Why, what is your water bill like?

I also don't live in a MUD and pay $90-$100. Small lot. No pool. Houston - Cypress Area.

I don't pay a MUD taxes. I have spoken to peole in neighboring subdivisions who pay $20-$30 / month for water, but they are paying a MUD tax.
