Thanks,
I tried that but I can't get a TX license without registering and insuring the car first

If you have prior insurance, not too many tickets, and carry higher limits, you should be able to get a decent rate. Depending on your age and level of coverage will affect your rating. Comprehsive/Collision/Liablity for 40 years old plus should be less than $100 a month, but under 40 may run between $110 and $150. The older you are the less you should pay. Also, if you get a renters insurance or home insurance policy with the same company you should save some money.

Default insurance

It depends on your age, driving record, credit history etc. Full coverage or just liability? Good luck getting GOOD cheap insurance in Houston, we have some of the highest rates in the country

I have liberty mutual. They offer discounts for college grads and multi discount since I have my home and car with them. So far, they are the lowest and service is great.

I meant that if I were to register my car in Houston my insurance would cost $800 more a year. The registration fee is higher too, by about $100 a year. We are with State Farm and I carry more insurance than the minimum and my deductibles are $250 collision/$0 comp. Even if I were to lower my coverage the difference is still about $60 a month.

Are you sure? When I did it they just wanted to see that I had insurance. It also did not matter where the car was registered as long as it was.

If you live in a neighboring county outside of Harris County (Houston) - auto insurance is a bit cheaper (Brazoria County, Galveston County, Montgomery County, etc.)
