My Homeowners Insurance contract with ASI is up for renewal and before I renew, I was hoping some people who have ASI and have made a claim could PM me and tell me what their experience was.

I've used them for 3 years but never had to make a claim so I'm curious what experiences other people have had.

Thanks so much!

Also, isn't there a state website where you can view customer satisfaction reports on insurance companies? I can't find the site offhand.

Below you will find a link to ratings by JDPower

You will also find a link to the texas office of public insurance. This site will allow you to compare your homeowners coverage. I don't know about their claims paying rating, but I did see that you may have some serious exposure. You need to get an all risk policy that pays out replacement cost on your home and property. Check out the comparison tool on OPICs website and look at your exact ASI policy form (they have 4 different ones).

Thanks. I ended up going with another company that offered a true HOB plan. And I've always purchased the extra endorsement for replacement cost on my property. The plan includes replacment cost on home.

their coverage on both their HO-3 and HO-B policies are some of the best available. Also, in regards to claims, they were one of the best to pay and be very responsive - GREAT COMPANY

I got to the JD Powers Website, and they did not have anything on ASI Lloyds. They did have the top 10 companies and ASI was not there. The links to allegedly rate a company made you apply for a quote and did not deliver.

From the looks of this 2008 Homeowners Complaint Index from the Texas Department of Insurance ASI aint too shabby. But i would still like to hear any feedback from anybody.

I ended up going with Homeowners of America. I saved around $50-$100 and got better coverage because they offer a true HO-B plan.

what do you mean by 'true HO-B'? If I've learned anything about comparing these insurance carriers, it is that HO-B, HO-W, HO-A, is many times window decor that doesn't necessarily pack substance. BTW, I'm with ASI LLoyds and am up for renewal too.

The broker who suggested this company had very positive things to say about them. I am coming up on my 3rd year term. ~180k coverage on a fire policy (basically their HOB in terms of their coverage), with a liability endorsement, I think for 100k (w/o checkign my paperwork). $565/yr.

USAA annd State Farm want a ridiculous amount for comparable plans.

Kinda OT but .....

I went through a mortgage broker who pushed ASI to me and while billing me for everything i now see in my online credit card statement that there is another fee of 200 bucks which he says is the fee for starting up the policy with ASI. No where in our convo's did he mention this fee though!!!!

Is this normal for all insurance companies? Id call ASI now but its too late in the evening...

i think the starting up fee only charged by certain agency. not by ASI. I am searching home insurance and almost paid when i heard that they charge $179 for the start. the guy told me it was a one time charge. but they never listed on the quote. definitely a hiding fee. Then i stopped and called another agent who also quote me for ASI without the one time charge. The agency is TWG Insurance , phone 682-334-9000.
