My kids will be going to the dentist here for the first time since we moved. Would really like to find someone as nice as their old dentist. Their old dentist was great, really loving. She had video games in the waiting area and the exam rooms. my boys love that. Also we will be paying cash for the checkup and regular cleaning. So someone that's not too $$ would be great.

We haven't been there yet but I keep driving by Villalon Pediatric Dentistry and thinking that I should schedule an appointment for my children.

Their Web site says they have toys, stuffed animals, and video games.

Red face found a dentist for my kids

i took my kids to Avalon Dental after my visit since he accepts both adults and kids. Plus, my friend in the dental field since Pediatric Dentist are considered a "specialist" so their fees are higher than a general dentist. His place didn't have all the fancy toys but it was VERY clean and had TVs in every room. My kids had fun interacting with the doctor they didn't even pay attention to the TV which was a great feeling for me. I am not sure where you are but he is off Williams Trace and Highway 6 in Sugar Land.

When my 16 month old chipped a tooth I took him to see two different pediatric dentists and each recommended a different course of action. Neither had a particularly warm demeanor or a willingness to adequately address my concerns. I was very worried about the tooth and not comfortable with either one of them, so my mother asked her long time dentist for a recommendation. He suggested Larry Caldwell in Sugar Land because he specializes in children's dentistry and has an excellent reputation. After meeting with Dr. Caldwell I was instantly relieved and knew he was the one I wanted. He answered all of my questions, appeared very competent and was extremely warm toward both myself and my son. Dr. Caldwell did a wonderful job capping the tooth and my toddler did not have any pain or emotional distress. Dr. Caldwell's waiting room has a warm cheerful nature theme and plenty of toys to distract bigger kids and little ones. There was a flat screen tv playing "Bee Movie" in the interior waiting area and all of the children seemed relaxed. I also loved the staff. This is a link to his website Larry Caldwell, DDS - Dentistry for Children His prices are also very reasonable.

Now if I could only find a male pediatrician I liked as well I would be set.

Both of my kids (currently 2 and 4) have been going to Dr. Ben Villalon since they were 1 year old. Everyone in the office is super nice and makes my kids really happy to be there. Dr. Villalon takes the time to sit down with me and explain/listen to all of my concerns. I'm so glad he was recommended to us. Plus, at the end of the appointment, they give out "goodie bag"...toothpaste, tooth brush, stickers, and most importantly, a balloon! My kids get really excited when I told them we're going to the dentist. Good luck in your search!

Don't hesitate to ask if there is a discount for cash paid in full at the time of your appointment. A lot of dentists will discount 5-10% for having the money in hand if you don't have insurance. I have worked in the Dental field for over 10 years and have found this to be true most of the time.

Is there any particular reason why it has to be a pedi dentist? I take my kids to Dr. Ron Rich (on Sweetwater) - they ar e one of the best dentists in all of Houston, and he has done everything my kids have needed except one retaining wire - for that I went to a well known pedi dentist in Rosenberg. Bleh - I could deal without the crowded, germ-ridden waiting room, crazy waits, crazy prices, and staff with attitude. I'll stick with regular dentists for my kids - the few times I've taken them to pediatric specialists over the years -I was not impressed!
