Traffic is pretty bad in morning week-days so get yourself up and on the road by 7 and you'll have a nice short commute downtown - after ... look out for a parking lot. All in all a pretty good deal for you money housewise and a decent lifestyle. Can live in a big house for low payment and still head into the loop for entertainment easily. About the only thing I wasn't too impressed about was the rather poor quality of local roads (288 and Belt8 are great but Pearland/N. Brazoria county roads are pretty chuck-holed and too narrow for the burgeoning buildup of sub-divisions).

There are improvements planned for the roads coming soon. Southfork is being expanded. There is already an entrance to 288 there. Stoplights are planned at CR 94, CR 90 and (hopefully) Morgan. Southfork will be cut through to Magnolia so traffic to 288 will be straight through on that.

My understanding is that Bailey Road will be widened next and another entrance to 288 will be put in there as well. That does not show up on the city website though.

Note that the Bailey overpass of the railroad tracks *has* been completed.

From the city of Pearland website:
Bailey/Veterans to FM 1128
Location:

Bailey Rd between Veterans and FM-1128
Estimated Completion Date

December 2010
Project Details

Bailey Road will be improved to a four-lane concrete curb and gutter boulevard between FM 1128 and Veterans Drive, a distance of 2.5 miles. The drainage improvements will accommodate the roadway after the Cowart Creek Diversion project has been completed.
