We are first time homebuyers, and we are trying to find a realtor in this area (i.e. Spring, Klein, Tomball, & Cypress). We have already been burned here by a realtor who only showed us 3 houses and made us choose(like we were on House Hunters) and then they decided to double dip and represented us, the buyer and the seller and tried to keep it under wraps. A lot of info was kept from us until we wanted to back out because the seller refuse to do what they agreed to do and needless to say we left that realtor alone.
However, we ended devastated as attempted- first time homebuyers with no home and a lot of stress and emotional issues... just kidding but it's been a year and we're afraid to pick a realtor. We're expecting our first child in May and our lease ends in April. I'm ready to move now. Does anyone know an agent with patience and honesty who is in this area of 1960, near 249? We need guidance in areas we can afford more so than I am getting on the online listing. We are more than willing to drive on our own time and just see the house & the area before we tour to see what sort of vibe we get. I just don't know what I am missing out on - we know were we want to buy, but we don't know enough about the neighborhoods, etc. That is what we need from our realtor.

However, we do expect to tour multiple homes, even in the double digits if we have too, as we know there is a good chance this will be the only home we will ever be able to afford to buy. I understand that money isn't made until the house is closed, but we are motivated and want to have a house bought in between late February and late March as we don't want to renew our lease.

I am looking for a realtor who is very active via e-mail and sometimes phone. I want to see as many listings as I can. We do have a few specifics we want, but overall they are all very doable from what I see. I have been looking online myself, but someone who can give me specifics would be most helpful.

Thanks so much everyone! I am trying to save my time (and sanity!), as well as my realtors time as long as they will send me lots of e-mails!

Don't be too hard on me - this is my first post & I am an overwhelmed and emotionally alert,PREGNANT first time home buyer

CD does not permit realtors to solicit business on these boards, so I will try to help you as best I can.

The first document you need at the first face-to-face meeting with a realtor is the "Information About Brokerage Services". That document explains who represents who and what happens when the realtor represents both the buyer and seller. If a realtor is not willing to explain it to you fully, I'd suggest finding another realtor.

Use HAR. com for your home search. Utilize the MLS map to define your area(s).

Use crime maps and demographic info to learn about neighborhoods. And, drive through the area several times to see if there are amenities that you are interested in. Talk to the neighbors if you can.

Check school stats, neighborhood HOA activities, area shopping and drive time to work. Any good realtor would be ready to help you in those areas.

Welcome new Baby! Try to relax..you are not asking for anything above and beyond the call of duty of a good realtor. Best of Luck!!

I don't know the whole story on this, but if it is true they tried to do that and hide it, it needs to be reported to not only HAR, but TAR. Big time no-no without your consent.

modster is a well-respected poster here and I'd go with pretty much whatever he says. Good luck!
